Introduction:
Both of these are single-core copper conductor cables and comply with relevant Australian/New Zealand standards, but there are differences in their specific parameters and applicable scenarios. Among them, the cable conforming to AS/NZS 5000.2 has a voltage rating of 450/750V, adopts V-90 PVC insulation and 3V-90 PVC sheathing, with a conductor cross-sectional area of 1.5-6mm², a long-term operating temperature of 90ºC, and a short-circuit temperature resistance of up to 160ºC. The double-layer PVC structure provides double protection, and it is suitable for low-voltage scenarios such as lighting and socket circuits in residential and commercial buildings. It has a relatively low current-carrying capacity and a service life of about 15-20 years. The cable conforming to AS/NZS 5000.1, on the other hand, has a voltage rating of 0.6/1kV, uses X-90 XLPE insulation and 5V-90 PVC sheathing, with a conductor cross-sectional area of 10-95mm². Its long-term operating temperature is also 90ºC, but it has a higher short-circuit temperature resistance, up to 250ºC. The XLPE insulation layer has excellent dielectric properties, and its current-carrying capacity is 15-20% higher than that of PVC cables with the same cross-section. The 5mm thick PVC sheathing has higher mechanical strength. It is suitable for medium-voltage scenarios such as power main lines in industrial plants and commercial complexes, with a service life of more than 30 years.
